ABLATION

This system includes Cool-Tip Radio Frequency Ablation, Microwave Ablation through the Evident and Empress System with Thermosphere technology.

ABLATION

Intervention by which an organ, a body of tissue or a foreign body is removed by surgery.
This system includes Radio Frequency Ablation, Microwave Ablation, and Ablation with Thermosphere Technology.

ABLATION TYPES

• Microwave Ablation - The technique involves heating the tumor.
During the intervention, a needle is placed on the cancerous tumor, which is destroyed without part of the affected organ being removed. The patient is anaesthetized but remains conscious, and a microwave antenna is inserted through the biopsy needle.
Such an intervention eliminates the need for a classical operation. It does not involve an incision, and the time required for recovery is less, and complications are also eliminated. As a consequence, the risk of hemorrhage is no longer there. Microwave ablation is used to treat tumors in the liver, kidneys and lungs.

• Radiofrequency Ablation - is a medical procedure used to correct an arrhythmia or irregular heartbeat. The most commonly used method of treatment of arrhythmias involves the destruction of the tissue responsible for the arrhythmia by applying an energy that releases the local warmth. There are no long-term consequences on the heart muscle once the procedure has been completed.

• Thermosphere Ablation - It’s called Thermosphere technology, and it provides clinicians with three kinds of spatial energy control : thermal, field and wavelength. This maintains a predictable, spherical ablation zone throughout a procedure, and brings new confidence to the ablation of liver tumors.
